CARING FOR AMERICA

“Honoring Their Service with Our Caring Efforts”

I wish to thank my fellow Republican members for their caring concerns and rapid response to the teleconference last week.  It made my heart sing.  I was truly amazed at all the emails and requests for information on the Caps for the Military in the Middle East .  The knitting and crocheting patterns are on our web site or you may request them from me by email.

Some of you may not yet know what our state project is to be.  We are going to make caps that are worn inside the soldier’s helmets. They act as liners that help protect the soldier’s head from the heat and cold and the discomfort from the metal helmets. They are made with a specific camouflage yarn. The yarn information is also included in the knitting instructions.  If you cannot knit or crochet, there are several other ways to help.  Your club can recruit friends and/or family members.  Members of senior centers are always looking for ways to help. The yarn/or money for yarn can be donated to clubs who do knit or crochet and lastly but most importantly every member can write the notes that are pinned unto the caps before they are given to the soldiers at the deploying airports.

Some of the clubs throughout the state that have already started working on the project or have requested information are Bandera Co. RW, South Llano Co. RW, San Patricio Co. RW, and the Matagorda Co. RW.  I hope I have included everyone so far.  Please feel free to call or email me for information.  I want everyone to join in the fun.  What a different we can make!  Please share any other good projects that you might have.  I will email them out to everyone that requests them.  We can have more than one project, you know.

Thank you for all your volunteering efforts,
